The Turkish  war against Afrin, an enclave with a large majority of Kurds, has been going on for almost two months now. About 140 academics, artists, writers and people from the civil society launch a call to break the silence about the Turkish violations of international (humanitarian) law.

The Turkish AKP regime started a war on 20 January against Afrin, a predominantly Kurdish enclave in northern Syria. Several dozen organizations and individuals have signed a call to stop these hostilities immediately.

Angry reactions followed the mid-November 2017 CNN-report on slave trade in Libya. Dimitris Avramopoulos, EU commissioner for Migration, said he was shocked by the images. The European crocodile tears came a bit late as the hypocritical Union is co-responsible for abuses in Libya.
